ETKA.
In no particular order.
The glovebox lid is glued on. Not intended to be repaired. You can however break the two parts apart, start at the top.
The fan(s) are powered from SA8 (50A) for one fan, SA7 (70A) for two fans, or both for AXE.
7H0 919 506 F Has one fan output Gets a PWM signal from the ECU (J623 T94/47) and power (87) from SD1 (5A)
H0 919 506 D Has two fan outputs Gets two PWM signal from the ECU (J623 T94/25 and J623 T94/47) and power (87) from SD1 (5A) Fans are swapped around pre/post May/June 2003
G308 (and G89 up to Week 21/2008) is 1J0 907 543A "AC Evaporator Temperature Sensor". It's an R25 = 1kOhm (1k @ 25C) NTC (resistance goes up as temperature goes down) thermistor. Test it with a multimeter and a can of brake cleaner or any spray that cools things down.
G308 connects to J153 7E0 919 506 ("454") "Magnetic Clutch Control Unit" which looks like a large relay but has a microcontroller (most likely some kind of a PIC) and a bunch of transistors and passives inside.
J153 also gets the gas pressure from G65 1K0 959 126 "High Pressure Sender", and it drives the clutch N25 on the aircon pump, and as far as I can tell it communicates with the ECU via pin 7, "BIDI" implying bi-directional comms, maybe.
I have no idea what possessed the engineers over in Wolfsburg to mount this thing under the seat, with the connectors facing upwards. You spill a drink down there, it falls in, can't run out, has to run into the module and mess it up.
J393 is mainly the receiver for the central locking key remote. It controls the central locking system, and I am going to go out on a limb and say that there are different flavours of this thing depending on whether for example you have one sliding door or two, and whether you have a flap at the back or barn doors.
It also monitors the anti-theft / anti-tilt / ultrasonic intruder sensors, if you have those fitted, and drives the alarm horn, again if you have one of those.
Enough of that, this is not something I will be retro-fitting into the AXB.
Relay position 8 in the engine compartment.
This is a five-pin "relay" which is connected to N315 "Power Steering Hydraulic Pressure Valve" and to the ABS controller. I have no idea what it actually does. The connection to the ABS controller might be a weird way of getting data to / from the CAN bus?
